Hi, I’m Michelle! Welcome to Pocketful of Chelles!
I decided to create this blog to share information on career advice, HR topics, Big Green Egg (BGE) tips and recipes, craft ideas, and some of life’s adventures, just to name a few.
First, let me share a little about myself. I consider myself a dream chaser. I worked hard to build a career in Human Resources (HR). It wasn’t the career path that I started with (I’ll get back to this later). I am a people champion, a talent developer, even a matchmaker. More importantly, I am a daughter, a sister, I married my high school sweetheart (you’ll get to know him when we talk BGE tips and recipes), and our little dude has turned me into this down-to-earth super-mom.
You might be wondering why I named this blog, Pocketful of Chelles. Have you ever walked on the beach just to pick up seashells? They come in all different shapes and sizes. They are different colors. Each one is unique. Before you know it, you’ve picked up a pocketful of “Chells”. The same is true about life. My life.
I’ll share a little story with you, remember above when I said my career path didn’t begin in HR? When I started college, I was chasing a dream in Dental Hygiene. Yes, that’s right, I was a little fascinated by people’s teeth! As life would have it, I married my high school sweetheart, Travis. We traveled around the world.
Home was where the Air Force sent us. It just so happened, we went overseas to Germany. This is when I switched my degree track to Human Resources. There are only so many degree programs overseas, and unfortunately, Dental Hygiene isn’t one of them. This was one time when I picked up a seashell and put it in my pocket. Had life not selected me to be on Team Veteran & Military Spouse, I would not be where I am in my career today. When you’re on Team Veteran & Military Spouse (both of which are in my DNA), you make sacrifices. You learn how to take on change (you are your own change agent). You build a network of old friends and new ones.
I hope Pocketful of Chelles will inspire you. I hope you will find the information helpful, insightful, and most of all, I hope it will make you discover your own new adventure that will make you smile.
I can’t wait to see where this blogging journey will lead me and how it will evolve. As a first post, I would love if you leave a comment, or just stop by to say, “hi”.
